The Birthday

Sarah had almost a great day, yesterday. I brought her breakfast in bed, along with her gift, which was another session of gymnastic classes. I brought her Burger King for lunch and Rachel and I had lunch with her. She sat with her friends, 2 that were at her party and 3 that weren't, the girls that came were telling the others how much fun it was and they really missed it, that made me feel good. The lunch monitor had the all 3rd graders sing happy birthday to her. I took cupcakes for her class to enjoy after lunch. She had gymnastics after school, and we picked up Boston Market for dinner. Now comes the part were the day was almost ruined, she was suppose to be showering, but instead, she was watching T.V. in my room so she got in trouble. Then after the shower the T.V. goes on again, it's wasn't just her, but all 3 kids. So they will be doing extra chores today as punishment. Pat came home from work, Sarah was able to save $58 to get herself a new bike, Fry's had a mountain bike on sale for $59, he brought it home last night, she was really excited. It's a little big, but I think she'll be able to ride it. It was bed time, she was sitting on the back of the couch and it looked like she was going to flip backwards on it, instead of just hopping down to go and pray, I stopped her, and of course that was another thing that almost ruined her day. LOL Pat didn't even believe her that she wasn't going to flip, so I know I was right.

On the day...

... that you were born then angels got together and created a dream come true. Dear Sarah, You were a dream of mine and Daddy's for a long time. God blessed us by giving you to us. On the day I told Daddy we were going to have a new baby, we took Joey to Grandma and Grandpa's and we went to see the movie "Mission Impossible". I thought it was an appropriate titled movie to see, because I thought we'd never have another baby. The night before you were born I didn't sleep well, I was too excited because I knew shortly we'd be going to the hospital for you to be born. I laid down on the living room couch so Daddy could sleep. We left for the hospital at 6:30 AM. The nurse started an I.V. and the pitocin to get contractions going, then she hooked me up to a monitor and I was already having some contractions checked to see how progressed I was and I was at 2 cm, only 8 more cm to go. At 8 AM my doctor came in and broke my water, I didn't feel like talking to Daddy much and the T.V. on really annoyed me all morning. Around 12 PM the pain was getting worse and I asked for some pain medicine. At 3;30 it was even more painful, I asked for an epidural, the nurse checked me and I was at 7 cm, and she said it was too late, I'd be holding my baby in an hour. I thought "ya right" I was wrong! At 4:30 my doctor made it in to my room (he was delivering another baby next door). After just a few pushes you made your entrance at 4:32 PM. You were perfect. You weighed 7 LBs 1/2 oz and were 20 inches long. Daddy called everyone to tell them you were here. Grandpa and Grandma brought Joey to the hospital to see you. Joey helped the nurse give you your first bath. He felt very proud to have such an important job. It doesn't even seem possible that was 9 years ago. I love you so much! Happy Birthday Sarah Berry! I down loaded some pictures of Sarah "through the years" on my pictures

The Slumber Party!

Is finally over! Sarah had 6 friends from school, and 2 neighbor girls here last night to help her celebrate her 9th birthday. 4 spent the night. 2 came right after school, and another at 5, although the party was to begin at 6. I ordered pizza for dinner, the girls were very polite and only at 1 piece each, even though there was lots and lots of pizza. (so there's lots left over) The theme for the party was cheerleading, so after they ate they decorated pennants. Sarah opened up her gifts, they played a games of hangman, then we had cake that Sarah made pretty much by herself. 4 of the girls left. We started a movie and made popcorn in the air popper, the girls were so funny, I don't think they ever had seen an air popper before. They were all in front of it, and I forgot to tell them to turn the bowl when it got high, so we had a little popcorn exposion! They thought it was great fun. After the movie and popcorn I did the girls' nails. Rachel who was going to spend the night at my sister's house, but got sick yesterday was here, but I wouldn't let her be near anyone, went to bed. So I was trying to keep the noise level down. At 12:30, I was so tired I went to bed without telling anyone goodnight, I heard them for about 5 minutes before I was sound asleep until 8:30 this morning when Rachel woke me up to see if she could go out with the big girls now. I took their pictures to have proof that the slept. I woke the girls up at 9, when I put the french toast sticks in the oven. They said they were up till 2-2:30. I have about 5 pairs of white socks that don't belong here, a pair of jeans and a shirt so far that I have found left behind. My house is a wreck, but Sarah had a great time, so that's what's important.

Clocks

Every clock in this house says a different time. (and we have lots of them) It's driving me crazy. Pat did this so he won't be late for work and stuff. But I don't want to be early for stuff I have to do. The oven and microwave are the only clocks with the real time. The computer used to have the real time, but now he has changed it too. I hate having to do math to figure out what time it really is.

Power Struggle

I asked Rachel to bring me 4 hangers from her room, I can't quite get to the closet with all the junk in front of it. She doesn't want to, so I just leave the clothes laying on my bed that need hung. She wants lunch, I want hangers, so I thought I'd use that to getting me the hangers. The little sneak, took clothes that were already in the closet hung up and took them off the hangers, and piled the clothes up on the side of the closet. I fed her lunch then worked on finishing the laundry, only to discover what she had done to get the hangers for me. I guess I'll need to try to be more specific next time I ask for anything.

Goofing off

I should be cleaning my house right now, since I'll be having company tonight. But what am I doing goofing around on the computer. I just don't feel motivated yet. I am working on laundry though, so maybe that's a start. I was so tired last night when I went to bed, but couldn't get comfy sleep was a long time in coming :(

Hopping

Me-From one think to the next today. Took girls to school. Came home got ready to go to the doctor's (blood level off again) Went to the grocery store Picked up Rachel and the boy Marlene watches at a different school Took Rachel to Arrowhead to have her pictures taken, school nurse calls, Sarah got something in her eyes, and after the nurse cleaned them out the left was still hurting her, so I had to go get her, on the way I called the eye doctor to see if I could get her in. Took Sarah to the eye doctor, the left eye is scratched, doctor put in aniobtics and gave me some drops. Took Sarah home to get her homework done. Made dinner and a desert for the scrapbook group tomorrow night. Took Sarah to gymnastics. Had dinner and cleaned up. Took shower with the girls, (it's faster that way) Did their hair. Got dressed. Went to my book club. Got home at 9:30. I am so ready for bed now. When I was driving to gymnastics I thought I am really sick of getting in and out of the car today.

I came home to...

3 children watching a movie, eating popcorn, having soda, not ready for bed, and chores not done. They were all told what to do, Joey was in charge since Pat was at work, I am disappointed in all of them for not following the instructions that I gave them when I left.

The chore thing really bugs me, since they all have the same chore every night after dinner, so it was nothing new tonight. I can't decide what their punishment should be, but they will have one. Any suggestions?

What a relief

I went to an adult committee meeting tonight and Joey's summer camp is completely paid for! I'll have he do any other fundraiser the troup has to help other boys get to camp.

Trip down memory lane

Today, Rachel was getting into my desk that's in her room, and found some odds and end pictures I had in there. She couldn't find any that were of her, so I got out her baby book and we looked and read it. She loved that she first laughed at her Daddy, and that she would get into Sarah's stuff alot. It's amazing how much I had forgotten until I read it. That hour has been the highlight of my day!

Responsibility

That must be the theme of the week, at our house this week. This morning Joseph was to be at school at 7:15 for student council, we did talk about it last night when he went to bed. He did not set his alarm earlier or just didn't get up, so he didn't go. I'm not sure yet what happened. I don't know if I made the right choice, I'm sick of enabling him, when he should begin to have some resposiblity for his own activities. (This of course is not the first time) We didn't talk about it this morning, I'm not sure he even remembered when he left for the bus, I'm sure he'll mention it when he gets home this afternoon. He also needed some supplies for art class this quarter, he left half of the things at home. I will not be taking him the stuff, he'll have to deal with the consequences.

How much longer?

Sarah is in sooo much trouble. She called me from the neighbor girl's house over an hour ago, telling me she was there. I did talk to her about asking first, when she called. I told her she needs to be home in 20 minutes to eat, and take a shower, because we have to take Joey to scouts tonight, she is now 50 minutes late. Coming home late has been a problem, usually I call, or send Joey to get her or both girls. I thought I'd see how late she'd be on her own. She will not be eating, and if she isn't home when it's time to go to take Joey, I'll pick her up, and she'll in a lot more trouble, and have to wake up early tomorrow to shower. Since telling her to be home at a certain time, has not worked, hopefully going to bed, with an empty tummy will. Any other suggestions?

Middle of the night

It's been a great 2 weeks of sleeping in, it is so dark outside right now, it looks like it should be the middle of the night, it probably has been for 2 weeks, so this feels so weird.

Reading

That's pretty much all I've felt up to doing the last several days. I finished both books for my book club, read the new Harmony book, read the first chapter in the new Midford, caught up on all my magazines. The cold I started getting on Christmas, turned into pneumonia. I finally was able to get into the doctor's today and had a chest ex-ray. She had me try this new antibiotic that you drink once and that's it. I hope it works and in a few days I'll start feeling better. I really don't feel bad, unless I do something physical (cleaning, laundry, cooking) So I haven't done much this week, I love the not feeling like cooking, but the hamper overflowing and house a wreck is stressing me, but not enough to do something about it yet!

Mess

It's put away the inside Christmas decorations at my house today. I have been fighting a cold for over a week now, so it didn't go real fast, but faster than I had hoped, I put the kids to work helping me, (I ususally like to do it all myself to make sure everything is wrapped properly.) But I decided that they should learn how to pack, so it went pretty fast, and not much fighting. We didn't do the tree yet, Pat didn't bring in those boxes from the attic yet. We stacked up all the other deoctorations in the living room, so he'll be able to get them put in the attic when he gets the tree boxes down. With all that's packed up, the house looks bare. I like it, I just wished it was CLEAN and bare.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year 2006!
I'm exhausted, the kids stayed up till the ball dropped on T.V. and are all wound up, from our fun family night. I do hope they get to bed fast, and sleep really late tomorrow. New Years Blessings!
